Reports in the Mirror suggest that the Red Devils' boss is keen to reunite with the German midfielder, having managed him whilst at Real Madrid.
The Arsenal star has yet to agree
terms over a new deal and with just over 12 months left on his current
contract, Ozil could well be sold by the Gunners this summer so as to
avoid losing him for free at the end of next season.
Arsene
Wenger has insisted that he would be prepared for such a scenario to
occur, however, considering Arsenal's past when it comes to players
running their contracts down, the Frenchman may find himself in a losing
battle with the club's hierarchy, who would rather cash in on their man
over losing him for free in a year's time.
The United boss is expected to be on the lookout for attacking players during the upcoming transfer window, as he looks to solve his team's problems in front of goal. Out of the current top seven teams in the Premier League, the Red Devils have scored the fewest amount of goals (46), with the next closest being Everton, who have scored 11 more.
