Real Madrid 3-2 Man City, 18th September 2012

Real Madrid v Manchester City FC - UEFA Champions League
The draw wasn't any kinder to Mancini's City in 2012/13. By that time they were Premier League champions but were considered outsiders in a group with Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Ajax.

Matchday one was a trip to the Bernabeu, where an inspired performance from Joe Hart was almost enough to see City to victory. When substitute Aleksandar Kolarov gave the Sky Blues a 2-1 lead with a few minutes to go, an historic win looked likely, but even later goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo handed Real the three points instead.

City XI: Hart, Maicon, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy, Garcia, Barry, Silva, Toure, Nasri, Aguero

Real XI: Casillas, Arbeloa, Varane, Pepe, Marcelo, Khedira, Alsonso, Essien, Ronaldo, Di Maria, Higuain
